Levi is One Month Old!

Our dear sweet boy is one month old!  It is so hard to believe so much time has passed since I was pregnant with him.  How our lives have changed in such a short amount of time....and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Levi has been such an enormous blessing in our lives!  I am amazed that I could love him more and more every day....how is that even possible?

Even though I feel like I can't hold a conversation or remember anything half the time....I am learning so so much about our little son and how to best care for him.  I am proud to say I am gaining in confidence every day and actually know him....at least for now.  I hear babies change constantly!  Here are some things I want to remember about Levi at one month:
  • He was born weighing 7 lbs and 9 oz.  He now weighs 10 lbs and 1 oz.  He is in the 57th percentile in weight.
  • He was born measuring 20 1/2 inches in length and now measures 23 inches.  This puts him in the 86th percentile.
  • Levi is a great eater.  He latched on right away.  We had a good idea he might since he was sucking his thumb within the first 5 minutes of being born.  He eats for about 30-45 minutes every three hours or so during the day.  At night he goes between 3-5 hours between each feeding.

  • He also is a great sleeper!  I read Babywise before having him, preparing to get him on some sort of sleep, eat, wake schedule to help form good sleeping habits.  It was amazing, he just came out knowing what to do.  He sleeps for about an hour, eats, and is awake for about an hour during the day.  At night, starting at about 8, I feed him and put him right to bed in his crib on his back.    He sleeps for 3-5 hours.  I nurse him and put him right back down.  It's amazing!  At about 8 or 9 in the morning, he wakes up and starts his wake time cycle.  I could not ask for a better sleeper.
  • He loves to be swaddled very tightly...or he will get his arms out and start slapping himself.
  • The paci helps him calm down and go to sleep, but he usually spits it out and then falls asleep.
  • We think he loves his sleep sheep....but maybe it's just us.  :D
  • Plus, this sweet little guy is rather chill and barely cries.  I keep waiting for him to find his lungs or get grumpy.  But he stays pretty chill most of the time, unless he's hungry.  He has just started getting a little fussy when he's tired.
  • He's a very loud eater.  He grunts and wiggles all around.  He can get really angry if he has to suck too hard, he has a burp, or gas/poop.
  • He just started focusing on my face about a week ago.  He'll look at me and watch very intently!  He's just started cooing and smiling big smiles at me when I smile at him....usually right after he's done nursing.
  • He loves to look around at everything!  He is constantly looking at everything all over the room....specifically: the fan, light from inside or outside, your face, and pictures on the wall.
  • He loves to lay flat on the ground, wiggling his arms and legs while looking around.
  • He loves his bouncer as well, but has recently prefered laying on the ground.
  • Levi has just about outgrown all his newborn outfits.  He fits pretty snuggly in 0-3 month stuff and a few 3 month outfits.  Poor guy still has really skinny legs.

Love this guy!
