Levi is 3 months old!

So apparently I'm not much of a blogger.  I thought I'd summarize and include pictures of Levi from each month on my monthly updates of him.  What was I thinking!?  When I finally sit down to do these monthly updates, I find myself very overwhelmed by how much has gone on from the month.  He has grown so much, changed so much, and done so many new and "exciting" things!  So, my plan is to post his three month stats and a few recent pics and then go back and fill in the rest of the month with later posts.  So....three months stats:

  • I don't know how much he weighs or measures because we won't have another doctor appt until he is four months.....but, he is definately feeling heavier.  He's not super chubby, but he is definately filling out and has a solid feel about him.

  • He is wearing a few three month outfits but mainly 6-9 months....of course this is after washing and drying them.
  • He just finished up a pack of size 1-2 diapers, which were getting a bit small.  We are officially in size two now.
  • And as for poop, he used to poop almost every time I nursed...craziness!  Now he holds it in and lets it go about twice a day.  If I hear it, I hold him up fast because it will most likely blow out every time.  By the way, oxi-clean is awesome!!!  Works every time!  I haven't tried the other tips I received because this one is so easy.  His clothes might make it!  :D
  • He is still one happy baby!  He loves to smile....especially at people, but then he still smiles at random objects as well.
  • Just recently, he takes a little bit to warm up to new people.  He smiles at me and Josh all the time, but you have to spend some time with him if you are going to get a big grin.
  • With in the last week, Levi has started to laugh!  It is the cutest thing ever to hear.  He'll laugh when you tickle his back sometimes, make funny noises, and/or are smiling and laughing at him.

  • He now has started reaching toward objects.  He can grab hold of them and let go a little better now.
  • He sucks in his bottom lip quite a bit....and then slobbers all down his chin.
  • He sticks his tongue out all the time.  So funny.  He'll curl it up on the left side or just stick it out as far as he can get it.
  • He drools a lot more now.
  • He bites, chews, sucks his fingers and arms like crazy!
  • He has rolled over a few times from his stomach to his back.  But I'm pretty sure it is on accident still.
  • He likes his tummy time a little better than before....only for about five minutes at a time.  He holds his head up much higher and for a longer time.
  • He loves to look around more and more.  He loves watching Keller....Keller on the other hand still likes to think he's the baby.  He will lay right next to Levi on the floor.  He tries to lick him when he hears him and can get to him(but let me say we don't let him unless it is a little on the legs or feet).  Levi seems to enjoy it.
  • He eats very fast now.  Three minutes on one side and about 5 or 6 on the other.  Then proceeds to spit up about 2-3 times in the next hour.  Love this kid....but still gross!

Igore the crazy brightness if possible...I used a new setting on my camera.  Still trying to figure it out.

  • He still likes to lay flat and look around some, but he really likes to sit or "stand" up.  We got him a Bumbo that he likes to sit in....but it is a lot of work still to hold his body and head steady.  We tuck a blanket around him to help.
  • He is getting louder...not necessarily crying, but his "yells" and "talking" are louder.
  • He still sleeps really good.  I put him down at 7, feed him at 10 and then he wakes up once more anywhere between 3-6 and then sleeps to about 7 or 8 in the morning.  Anyway, it's about 12-13 hours of sleep for him.  He went four nights of sleeping from 10 to 7, but then stopped.   :(

Levi is Two Months Old!

I never thought I'd be one of those parents who dreaded their baby getting older.  But I have discovered that I am.  Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful and thrilled that our sweet boy is healthy and growing like he should.  At the same time, there is a twinge of sadness and dread as he grows bigger what feels like every day.  From everyone else's point of view, he still seems very much an infant.  But when I hold him in my arms, he's not nearly as small anymore.  That being said, I must celebrate the miracle of growth and development the Lord is doing in him.  Thank you Lord for these things as Levi turns two months:

  • He weighs 12 pounds and 6 ounces (63%)
  • He measures 24 inches (80%)
  • His head circumference 15.5 inches
  • He wears 0-3 month clothes mainly but some 3 month and occasionally 6 month
  • He is between a size 1 and 2 diaper....he blows out of them often.  We moved him up to a 2 thinking that would help, and he still blows out of them.  So now we are trying to use up some size 1's that we still have.  He stains everything!  I am still trying to figure out how to prevent stains on EVERYTHING!
  • He LOVES to look around at everything.  It is no longer good enough to just sit in his bouncer or lay on his activity mat and look around.  He wants to be in your arms, sitting upright looking around.  He isn't quite strong enough to sit in a bumbo(I don't think...I'm going to try soon), so you have to hold him.  I must invest in a Biorin.  But he does hold his head up fairly good.
  • He has recently started drooling....especially when he's sucking his hands, which he has also started doing quite a bit.
  • He is still my smiley, little boy!  Almost every time I look at him, he gives me a big grin.  I like to think it is a little more for Josh and I, but he likes to smile at most people.
  • People are still his favorite thing to look at I do believe.
  • He now can focus on his toys above him on the activity mat.  Occasionally he grabs one with his hand, but I'm pretty sure it is done on accident since he can't really let go once he's caught one.
  • First trip out of San Angelo was to Abilene for the day...he did great.  And then we ventured to Amarillo for 10 days.  He also did good.  He gets a little board in his car seat now instead of sleeping the whole time.  It could pose problems in the future.
  • He has gotten much squirmier, and loves to kick and kick.  Especially me when I'm holding him.
  • USUALLY he eats, stays awake about an hour and then sleeps for 1-2 hours.  At night he's been waking up once at about 4:00 and then 6:30-7:00 for the day.  This means he goes about a 6 hours stretch before waking up.  But....of course randomness does occur in there on certain days.
  • He was sleeping some in his bouncer and some flat in his crib, but now he seems to wake up quicker if he's just in his crib.
  • He still must be swaddled to stay asleep.  This poses a problem because as he's gotten bigger, he kicks himself out of his blanket.  The HALO swaddler works pretty good, but is now getting a little short.  Hmm...what to do?
  • He has gotten rather vocal.  He loves to "talk" whenever anyone talks to him.  He is also learning how to communicate his opinion as well.  He "yells" to get our attention and definitely likes things a certain way.
  • His nursing length is sporadic....sometimes 10 minutes total and other times 20.  But usually not ever over that.  Sometimes he won't take one side at all.  He "yells" to let me know he is done and he will not nurse ANY longer.
  • He has been such a joy to us!
