Levi is Two Months Old!

I never thought I'd be one of those parents who dreaded their baby getting older.  But I have discovered that I am.  Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful and thrilled that our sweet boy is healthy and growing like he should.  At the same time, there is a twinge of sadness and dread as he grows bigger what feels like every day.  From everyone else's point of view, he still seems very much an infant.  But when I hold him in my arms, he's not nearly as small anymore.  That being said, I must celebrate the miracle of growth and development the Lord is doing in him.  Thank you Lord for these things as Levi turns two months:

  • He weighs 12 pounds and 6 ounces (63%)
  • He measures 24 inches (80%)
  • His head circumference 15.5 inches
  • He wears 0-3 month clothes mainly but some 3 month and occasionally 6 month
  • He is between a size 1 and 2 diaper....he blows out of them often.  We moved him up to a 2 thinking that would help, and he still blows out of them.  So now we are trying to use up some size 1's that we still have.  He stains everything!  I am still trying to figure out how to prevent stains on EVERYTHING!
  • He LOVES to look around at everything.  It is no longer good enough to just sit in his bouncer or lay on his activity mat and look around.  He wants to be in your arms, sitting upright looking around.  He isn't quite strong enough to sit in a bumbo(I don't think...I'm going to try soon), so you have to hold him.  I must invest in a Biorin.  But he does hold his head up fairly good.
  • He has recently started drooling....especially when he's sucking his hands, which he has also started doing quite a bit.
  • He is still my smiley, little boy!  Almost every time I look at him, he gives me a big grin.  I like to think it is a little more for Josh and I, but he likes to smile at most people.
  • People are still his favorite thing to look at I do believe.
  • He now can focus on his toys above him on the activity mat.  Occasionally he grabs one with his hand, but I'm pretty sure it is done on accident since he can't really let go once he's caught one.
  • First trip out of San Angelo was to Abilene for the day...he did great.  And then we ventured to Amarillo for 10 days.  He also did good.  He gets a little board in his car seat now instead of sleeping the whole time.  It could pose problems in the future.
  • He has gotten much squirmier, and loves to kick and kick.  Especially me when I'm holding him.
  • USUALLY he eats, stays awake about an hour and then sleeps for 1-2 hours.  At night he's been waking up once at about 4:00 and then 6:30-7:00 for the day.  This means he goes about a 6 hours stretch before waking up.  But....of course randomness does occur in there on certain days.
  • He was sleeping some in his bouncer and some flat in his crib, but now he seems to wake up quicker if he's just in his crib.
  • He still must be swaddled to stay asleep.  This poses a problem because as he's gotten bigger, he kicks himself out of his blanket.  The HALO swaddler works pretty good, but is now getting a little short.  Hmm...what to do?
  • He has gotten rather vocal.  He loves to "talk" whenever anyone talks to him.  He is also learning how to communicate his opinion as well.  He "yells" to get our attention and definitely likes things a certain way.
  • His nursing length is sporadic....sometimes 10 minutes total and other times 20.  But usually not ever over that.  Sometimes he won't take one side at all.  He "yells" to let me know he is done and he will not nurse ANY longer.
  • He has been such a joy to us!

  1. I didn't know you were blogging--fun! I kinda do it but I am awful at keeping up. If I get one a month done I'm pretty proud, and forget pictures...they never get added. Annnyway...

So glad he is doing so well. The pictures are awesome!

Some advice on the blowouts: if you get just a cloth diaper cover (about $10/each, you would need about 4 to do every other day washing on them) and put that over the disposable diaper, it will prevent the blowouts. You don't have to go full cloth at all, but just using the covers will save you from many clothing changes and stains! Also, to get the stains out of his clothes hang them in direct sun straight from the washing machine. The sun will bleach the stains right out. ;)
